Exness Swap Fees (Overnight Fees): How to See Them, How They Are Calculated, and Cashback

Short answer: an Exness swap is an overnight charge or credit on a position that stays open past the daily rollover, at 21:00 GMT+0 in summer and 22:00 GMT+0 in winter, according to the Exness Help Centre (read 16 October 2026). On one weekday the swap is tripled to cover the weekend: Wednesday for most Forex pairs and metals, Friday for indices, stocks and most cryptocurrencies. You can check the swap before you trade in the MT4/MT5 symbol specification or the Exness trading calculator. Cashback does not change swap: it is a separate credit per lot traded, and it does not depend on how long you hold a position.

What is a swap, and when is it charged?

A swap is the cost, or sometimes the credit, of keeping a position open overnight. Exness describes it as "an overnight commission deducted or added to a trader's equity". If you open and close a trade before the rollover, no swap applies to that trade.

Exness applies swap at 21:00 GMT+0 in summer and 22:00 GMT+0 in winter, Monday to Friday. For traders in Vietnam, Thailand or western Indonesia (GMT+7), that is 04:00 or 05:00 the next morning, local time (our conversion). Swap is not applied on Saturday or Sunday, and Exness notes that public and bank holidays can change the schedule.

Triple swap day

Most instruments settle up to two business days after a trade. So a position held through one particular weekday rollover is charged for three days at once, to cover the weekend. Exness calls this the triple swap. The day depends on the instrument group:

Metals (for example XAUUSD, XAGUSD)WednesdayHolidays can change the schedule for XAUUSD and XAGUSD.
Energies (for example USOIL, UKOIL)NoneA single overnight charge each weekday.

StocksFridayStocks are not offered on Standard Cent accounts.

How Exness calculates swap

Exness publishes this formula:

swap = swap long or swap short × number of days × pip value
pip value = lots × contract size × pip size

Swap long is the rate for buy positions; swap short is the rate for sell positions. The "number of days" counts every rollover the position was held through, with the triple swap day counted as 3. Exness says it calculates swap rates in pips, while MetaTrader shows them in points. If the instrument's quote currency is not your account currency, the Exness trading calculator converts the result into your account currency.

According to Exness, these factors affect the swap rate of an instrument:

The Exness example, step by step

Exness gives this example, with a swap rate it marks "for demonstration purposes". It is not a current rate.

ItemValue in the Exness example
OrderBuy 1 lot EURUSDm on a Standard account, opened Tuesday 15:00, closed Thursday 23:00 (same week)
Pip value1 × 100,000 × 0.0001 = 10
Swap long (illustrative)−0.86852 pips
Number of days5 = Tuesday 1 + Wednesday 3 + Thursday 1
Swap−0.86852 × 5 × 10 = −43.43 USD

The position was open at three rollovers: Tuesday night, Wednesday night (triple) and Thursday night, because it closed at 23:00, after the rollover. The result is negative, so it is a charge. Current swap rates for every symbol are shown in your trading platform and in the Exness trading calculator.

Exness swap-free: who gets it, and for which instruments

Swap-free is an account status, not a rule per instrument. Exness applies it to your whole Personal Area, so every trading account you hold shares it. There are two separate statuses, and Exness says you cannot convert one into the other.

Swap-free (non-Islamic)Swap-free (Islamic countries)

The Islamic countries listed by Exness on 16 October 2026 are: Algeria, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Brunei, Chad, Comoros, Côte d'Ivoire, Djibouti, Egypt, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Maldives, Mauritania, Morocco, Niger, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkiye, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates and Uzbekistan.

Some older articles on other websites mention an "extended swap-free" status. The Exness Help Centre articles we read on 16 October 2026 do not use that term; they describe the two statuses above. Exness also describes zero-commission, swap-free account types for certain regions, subject to its terms; ask Exness whether these apply to you.

When Exness can remove swap-free status

For the non-Islamic status, Exness says it analyses trading behaviour with an algorithm to check swap-free compliance under the Client Agreement. If you "do not trade mostly during trading hours and regularly hold large amounts of open orders overnight", you may no longer qualify. Exness recommends trading mostly during the day and keeping overnight orders to a minimum.

If the status is cancelled, Exness says it can cancel it on all trading accounts, and swap then applies to current and future open orders. Exness sends a notification to your Personal Area when the status changes. A cashback partner cannot restore swap-free status; only Exness decides it.

How to see swap on your account

1. In MT4 or MT5, before you open a trade

Menu and field names from the MetaTrader help pages: MT5 Market Watch and MT4 Market Watch, read 16 October 2026. Mobile apps can show the specification in a different place.

2. In the Exness trading calculator

3. In your Personal Area: swap-free status

4. After the trade: your history

While a position is open, swap is part of your equity: Exness defines equity as balance plus or minus floating profit or loss and swaps.

Example: buy 1 lot of XAUUSD on a Standard account on Monday morning and close it on Thursday morning, before the rollover. The position is open at three rollovers: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Wednesday is the triple swap day for metals, so the number of swap days is 1 + 1 + 3 = 5.

How to reduce swap costs

Risk warning: Trading Forex and CFDs with leverage carries a high risk of losing money quickly. Holding positions overnight adds swap costs and exposes you to price gaps. Cashback lowers your trading costs; it does not make trading profitable and does not reduce market risk. Only trade with money you can afford to lose.

Frequently asked questions

Does swap affect my Exness cashback?

No. Our cashback is 90% of the partner commission Exness pays on your trades, counted per lot traded. It does not depend on swap or on how long you hold a position. A position held for a week returns the same cashback per lot as one closed in a minute.

Is Exness swap-free for everyone?

Not on every instrument. According to Exness, all accounts start as swap-free, but the non-Islamic status covers only a published list of instruments and depends on your trading activity. Clients registered from the Islamic countries Exness lists get swap-free status on all instruments automatically.

How can I avoid paying swap on Exness?

Close positions before the rollover at 21:00 GMT+0 in summer or 22:00 GMT+0 in winter, or trade instruments covered by your swap-free status. Check the triple swap day for your symbol. If you hold positions overnight on an instrument without swap-free, swap applies.

Why was my Exness swap-free status removed?

Exness says it checks trading behaviour with an algorithm. If you do not trade mostly during trading hours and regularly hold large amounts of open orders overnight, you may stop qualifying. Exness notifies you in your Personal Area. Only Exness decides this; contact Exness support if you think it is wrong.

What is the triple swap day on Exness?

It is the weekday when swap is charged three times to cover the weekend. According to Exness: Wednesday for Forex (Thursday for USDCAD) and metals, Friday for indices, stocks and most cryptocurrencies, Wednesday for crypto crosses. Energies have no triple swap.

Where can I check the swap before opening a trade?

In MT4 or MT5, right-click the symbol in Market Watch and choose Specification to see swap long and swap short. You can also use the Exness trading calculator in your Personal Area, under Tools & Services, or in the Exness Trade app.

Is swap a fee charged by the cashback service?

No. Swap is charged or credited by Exness on your trading account. OG Cashback does not charge swap or any fee. We only send the rebate to your own Exness account.
