Exness MT4 vs MT5 (2026): Differences, Account Numbers and Cashback
Short answer: Exness offers both MetaTrader 4 (MT4) and MetaTrader 5 (MT5), and you choose the platform each time you create a trading account. The practical differences are the language your Expert Advisors are written in (MQL4 or MQL5), which Exness tools work with each platform, and a few instruments that are available on MT5 only. In our partner data, MT5 account numbers have 9 digits and MT4 account numbers have 8. Cashback is the same on both platforms, because it depends on the account type and the instrument, not on the platform: XAUUSD on Standard returns up to $15.5 per lot on MT4 and on MT5.

Which Exness account types work on MT4 and MT5?
Every Exness account type can be opened on MT4, and the platform is a field you fill in when you create the trading account, together with the account type, currency and leverage. So the choice of platform does not limit the choice of account type.
What changes between account types is the trading cost and how the partner commission is generated. The table below shows the account terms as published by Exness on 10 October 2026, with the cashback for XAUUSD. The cashback column is the same whether the account runs on MT4 or MT5.
| Account type | Spread from | Trading commission | XAUUSD cashback (up to) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | 0.2 pips | None | $15.5 per lot |
| Standard Cent | 0.3 pips | None | $15.5 per standard lot (100 cent lots) |
| Pro | 0.1 pips | None | $5.93 per lot |
| Raw Spread | 0.0 pips | Up to 3.50 USD per lot, per side | $2.70 per lot, per side |
| Zero | 0.0 pips on the top 30 instruments, about 95% of the time | From 0.05 USD per lot, per side | $2.70 per lot, per side |

Check the current value in your Exness Personal Area or the Exness Help Centre before relying on it. Cashback figures are maximums: 90% of the partner commission at the top Exness partner tier; on Standard, Standard Cent and Pro the amount moves with the spread at execution. Exness sets the partner commission and may change it.

Why does my MT5 account have 9 digits and my MT4 account 8?
In our partner data, every MT5 trading account under our partnership has a 9-digit number, and every MT4 trading account has an 8-digit number (observed in October 2026). This is a pattern we see in our own records, not a rule published by Exness, so treat it as a quick check rather than a guarantee.
It matters because the account number is what you type into our checker. The most common reason the checker "does not find" an account is a missing or extra digit. We handled exactly this case on 9 October 2026: the account was connected, but one digit had been left out.
- If your MT5 number has 8 digits or fewer, check it again — a digit is probably missing.
- If your MT4 number has 9 digits, compare it with the number shown in your Exness Personal Area.
- Enter digits only. Do not add spaces, the server name or the platform name.
How to find your account number for the checker
The checker needs your trading account number — the number of the MT4 or MT5 account that trades. It does not need your password, your email or our Partner ID.
- Step 1: sign in to your Exness Personal Area. Each trading account is listed with its number.
- Step 2: copy the number of the account you want to check. It is also the login you use in MT4 or MT5.
- Step 3: count the digits — 8 for MT4 and 9 for MT5 in our partner data.
- Step 4: paste it into the checker, digits only.
Open the free Exness rebate checker and enter the number. A new account opened under our partnership shows up within minutes. If it is not found after about 30 minutes and the digits are correct, the account is not under us — see partner change not showing for the next step.
Never enter your Exness password anywhere outside Exness. The checker only returns connection status.
Is cashback different on MT4 and MT5?
No. Cashback is the same on MT4 and MT5. Exness pays the partner commission according to the account type and the instrument you trade. The platform you use to place the order is not part of that calculation, and we return 90% of the partner commission on both platforms. We keep 10%.
The rest of the service is also the same on both platforms:
- It is paid from Exness's partner commission, not from your account. Your spreads and conditions stay as Exness sets them.
- It is free, with no minimum volume and no cap, and it counts from 0.01 lot.
- It is credited once a day to the trading account that traded, as a separate credit record — not in the profit column of each order. Trades closed on one UTC day are settled in the next day's calculation.
More detail on timing: when and where your cashback appears.
Worked example: the same trades on MT4 and MT5
Two traders use Standard accounts. One trades on MT4, the other on MT5. Both trade the same volume of XAUUSD and EURUSD for 22 trading days.
| Daily volume (Standard) | XAUUSD on MT4 | XAUUSD on MT5 | EURUSD on MT4 | EURUSD on MT5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 lot a day | $341 | $341 | $105 | $105 |
| 5 lots a day | $1,705 | $1,705 | $525 | $525 |
Up to, per month. How we calculate: cashback per lot × lots per day × 22 trading days, at the maximum per-lot figures, rounded to whole dollars. For example, $15.5 × 1 lot × 22 days = $341. Examples are illustrative. Try your own volume in the Exness cashback calculator.
The two columns for each instrument are identical on purpose. The only things that change the cashback are the account type, the instrument, the volume and, on Standard, Standard Cent and Pro, the spread at execution.
Moving from MT4 to MT5: does my cashback continue?
The platform belongs to the trading account. To use the other platform, the simple route is to open another trading account and choose MT4 or MT5 when you create it. Whether that new account earns cashback depends on how your Exness profile is connected to us:
- Profile opened through our link: new trading accounts you open in the same profile are connected automatically, on MT4 or MT5. There is no need to reconnect.
- Partner change to our Partner ID: only trading accounts opened after Exness's confirmation email are covered. Accounts opened before that email stay with your previous partner, on either platform.
- In both cases, check the new account number in the checker. It should appear within minutes.

Exness Terminal, WebTerminal and the mobile app
You do not have to use the MetaTrader desktop programs to trade an MT4 or MT5 account. Exness lists these other ways to trade, as read on 10 October 2026:
- MetaTrader WebTerminal: a browser version for MT4 and MT5 accounts.
- Exness Terminal: Exness's web platform, for MT5 accounts.
- Exness Trade app: Exness's mobile app, which Exness lists as supporting MT5 trading accounts, with account management in the app's Personal Area.
- MultiTerminal: a Windows-only program for MT4 accounts.
Cashback follows the trading account, not the screen you trade from. An order on an MT5 account earns the same cashback whether you place it in the MT5 desktop terminal, in Exness Terminal or in the app. One exception to keep in mind: Expert Advisors run only in the MT4 and MT5 desktop terminals, not on web or mobile. If you trade with an EA, read Exness scalping and EA trading cashback.
MT4 or MT5: how to decide
Cashback will not decide this for you, because it is the same on both. Decide on the tools you actually use:
- Your Expert Advisors and custom indicators: an MQL4 program runs on MT4, and an MQL5 program runs on MT5. They are not interchangeable.
- The Exness tools you want: Exness Terminal works with MT5 accounts; MultiTerminal works with MT4 accounts.
- The instruments you trade: on Standard Cent, BTCUSDc and ETHUSDc are on MT5 only.
- What you are used to: if you already know one platform well, there is no cashback reason to switch.

Frequently asked questions
Is Exness cashback the same on MT4 and MT5?
Yes. Exness pays the partner commission by account type and instrument, not by platform, and we return 90% of it on both. XAUUSD on Standard returns up to $15.5 per lot on MT4 and on MT5.
How many digits does an Exness MT5 account number have?
In our partner data, MT5 trading accounts have 9-digit numbers and MT4 trading accounts have 8-digit numbers (October 2026). This is our observation, not an Exness rule. If the checker does not find your account, check first that no digit is missing.
Where do I find my Exness account number?
In your Exness Personal Area, where each trading account is listed with its number. It is also the login you use in MT4 or MT5. Enter it in the checker as digits only.
Can I get cashback on MT4 if I open it after a partner change?
Yes, if you open the MT4 account after Exness's confirmation email. Only trading accounts opened after that email are covered, on MT4 and on MT5. Accounts opened before it stay with your previous partner.
Does Exness Terminal or the Exness Trade app get cashback?
Yes. Cashback follows the trading account, not the screen you trade from. An order on an MT5 account earns the same cashback in the desktop terminal, in Exness Terminal or in the app.
